About Spire
elevating subculture arts and creative expression to the realm of the divine...
Mission Statement:
Centered around our church, Spire, Spireal, is a religious non-profit organization which strives to inspire and foster a vibrant and inclusive community that wholeheartedly embraces creative expression and subculture arts as a pathway to the divine realm. Our Ministeress holds an ordination from the Universal Life Church, a steadfast follower of the Universalist religion. Guided by the principles of doing what is right and honoring the freedom of individual faith practices, our ministry focuses on spiritual growth, personal development, and exploration through the transformative power of subculture arts and creative expression. Within the welcoming walls of Spire, individuals from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skill levels gather to awaken and nurture their creative spirit. We curate innovative spiritual practices, ceremonies, regular services, events, celebrations, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and collaborations that collectively inspire a profound spiritual journey. By celebrating and showcasing various art forms, we aspire to integrate subculture arts into mainstream religious practice, forging connections between the transcendent and the tangible. Together, we aim to illuminate the beauty and potential of creative expression in our spiritual lives.
Goals:
1. Uphold and Advance the Power of Creative Expression as a Spiritual Practice:
Spireal places immense value on the diverse manifestations of artistic expression. We recognize that the disciplines of art-making, in all cultures throughout history, have been integral to and inseparable from spiritual practice. We draw on this cross-cultural lineage of art-making as spiritual practice to establish new disciplines and community practices that suit our modern world.
2. Cultivate and Nurture Community:
Spireal is dedicated to fostering collaboration and integration, creating a nurturing environment where individuals of all backgrounds, experiences, and skill levels feel welcomed and supported. Through shared art experiences, we aim to ignite the inner spirit, foster personal growth, and inspire transformative journeys. By nurturing connections between individuals, we expand our collective creative and spiritual horizons.
3. Promote Inclusivity and Diversity:
We firmly believe in the equality of all individuals and are committed to justice. We invite everyone to explore and embrace their authentic selves and to share the passion for awakening the inner spirit through the arts, creativity, and innovation. By celebrating and embracing each person's unique artistic voice, we foster personal growth, self-actualization, and a profound sense of purpose in each individual and in the community as a whole.
Objectives:
We achieve our goals by holding weekly gatherings of individuals who wish to explore creativity as a spiritual path. We act as facilitators and hosts to artistic collectives, creative circles, and support networks that inspire and uplift one another, fostering a sense of belonging and shared growth. From events and celebrations to fundraisers, workshops, exhibitions, ceremonies, gatherings, weddings, memorials, and performances, these occasions will celebrate and honor various artists and art forms. Actively seeking a variety of collaborations with individuals and organizations, both within the religious and artistic realms. By forging these partnerships, we endeavor to promote interfaith dialogue, facilitate cultural exchange, and establish subculture arts into mainstream religious practices Actively participating and celebrating the innovative subculture arts, recognizing their ability to liberate the spirit and express the divinity within the human experience. Specifically, we create a space to celebrate and explore underground art, dance, experimental music, digital media, other unconventional performance arts, and whatever else. Establishing and promoting our church facilities as a space for collaborative engagement. Groups and individuals need not be formal members of Spireal in order to share our space, participate in our practices, or benefit from our community. Educate and engage in discourse on creativity as a spiritual practice. Although we have no texts or literature of our own, we draw on varied scholarly and inspirational texts on the subject. We promote discussion of the cross-cultural historical lineage of these practices in our regular gatherings and events.
